Air purification to catch and kill viruses

Catch and kill viruses

Keeping your family safe has never been a more important task. And as we find ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic, it can be difficult to know what to do for the best.

There is so much information out there with the media whipped into a frenzy and social media going into complete overdrive. But with that comes confusion and panic. Incorrect information about COVID-19 being shared, people latching onto hearsay and not knowing who or what to trust.

Here at The Conscious Parent we’ve watched the situation unfold and have kept quiet, not wanting to add to the Coronavirus “noise” however after careful deliberation we decided to post about air purification and how that can help to safeguard against viruses and bacteria – something that we can back up with scientific test results. After all, if there is something you could do to help keep your family safe, surely you’d want us to tell you about it?

Preamble over, air purification is a tried and tested way to protect yourself and your family from the airborne viruses and bacteria that are especially common over the winter months. An air purifier catches and removes these particles from the air and can also help you to sleep better which is a further boost to the immune system!

Humans are usually the main source of airborne diseases in the home. When someone sneezes or coughs, tiny water or mucous droplets filled with viruses or bacteria scatter, enter the air, and then the lungs, making you ill. Even without a cough or sneeze, germs can travel up to six feet away. Some viruses remain suspended in the air for hours.

Crowded conditions with poor air circulation, like public transport and office environments, make it easy for cold, flu, and other diseases to spread. Research shows that airflow and ventilation can dramatically impact how diseases spread indoors. The more stagnant your air is, the more likely diseases are to spread. And some bacteria and viruses thrive and circulate through poorly maintained building ventilation systems.

The science?

Testing by the accredited CAS Test Technical Services measured a 99.99% removal rate of the 12 most common viruses and bacteria by the Blue Air Classic 405 including swine flu (H1N1), E. coli, and Enterovirus (EV71).

We also have the smaller, stylish Blue Air 411 and Blue Air 221 which are simple but effective addition to any home. The innovative HEPASilent filters in the Blue Air system remove particles down to 0.1 micron in size, which is smaller than most viruses and this is the same across the range.

So, in a confusing world, here is something that is fact. An investment in an air purifier is an investment in your family’s health.

*Please note that Blue Air systems have not been tested against COVID-19 at time of publishing*
